Privacy Policy & Terms of Use
This page covers how we handle your information (Privacy) and the rules for using our website, directory and events (Terms). We've kept it plain and short. By using our site, listing in or using our directory, or attending our events, you agree to both.
We respect your privacy and handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. What we collect
- Contact & business details: name, email, phone, business name, job title, website, location.
- Event details: registrations, tickets, attendance, and (where you take part) photos or video from events.
- Directory data: business listing information (see the box below).
- Website data: cookies, device and analytics information when you browse our site.
TradieTech maintains a directory of trades, construction and trades-technology businesses to help connect the industry. Business listing details (name, trade, suburb, website, public contact details) are compiled from the businesses themselves and from publicly available sources. These are business contact details, not private personal information. If a listing is yours and you want it corrected, updated or removed, email us and we'll action it, no questions asked.
2. How & why we use it
- To run and improve our website, directory and events.
- To contact you with event info, updates and offers you can opt out of at any time.
- To connect exhibitors, sponsors, partners and attendees across the industry.
- To meet our legal obligations.
3. Marketing & your choices
We only send marketing in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). Every message has an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out any time by emailing us. Opting out of marketing won't affect essential event or account messages.
4. Sharing
We share information only with our service providers (e.g. CRM, email, event and analytics tools), with sponsors or partners where you've agreed, and with authorities where the law requires. We do not sell your data. Some providers may process data overseas under appropriate safeguards.
5. Storage, security & retention
We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure, and we keep it only as long as needed for the purposes above or as the law requires, then delete or de-identify it.
6. Your rights
You can ask to access or correct your information, opt out of marketing, or request deletion of your data or directory listing. Email us and we'll respond within a reasonable time. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
7. Children
Our website and events are intended for business and industry audiences, not for children under 16. We don't knowingly collect their information.
1. Using our site & directory
You may use our website and directory for your own business and personal use. You must not misuse them, attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to our systems, or use bots or automated tools to harvest or scrape our data without our written permission.
2. Directory listings
We aim to keep directory information accurate but don't guarantee it, and a listing isn't an endorsement. If you're a listed business, you're responsible for the accuracy of details you give us, and you can ask us to update or remove your listing at any time.
3. Our content
The TradieTech name, logo, website, directory and content are owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. You may not copy, republish, resell or use them to build a competing service without our written consent.
4. Your submissions
If you submit content (reviews, testimonials, listings, media or posts), you confirm you have the rights to it, and you give us permission to use and display it in connection with our website, directory and events. We can moderate or remove content at our discretion.
5. Events, tickets & conduct
Event registrations may require payment and are subject to availability. Tickets aren't transferable or resalable without our consent. We may reschedule or cancel events, with any refund terms set out at registration. Events may be filmed or photographed, and attending means you consent to being captured in promotional media. All attendees must behave professionally and lawfully.
6. Third parties & sponsored content
Our site may feature sponsored content and links to third-party sites. We don't control or guarantee third-party products, services or sites, and any dealings with them are between you and them.
7. Disclaimers & liability
Our site, directory and services are provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law we exclude liability for loss arising from your use of them. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. You agree to indemnify us for losses arising from your misuse of our services or breach of these terms.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you submit to the courts of that state. We may update this page from time to time; the "last updated" date above shows when. Continued use means you accept the current version.
This is a plain-language policy, not legal advice. For a business handling a large directory and event data, it's worth having a lawyer review it before you rely on it.
